PSS Opening Events Kick Off Soon

Jefferson, GA.    January 11, 2007

Peach State Speedway Track Manager Micky Cain is excited about the upcoming 2007 race season. Things are looking bright again for the ½ mile speed plant, and new track owners are committed to bringing the track back to the glory of its hay days.

In speaking with Cain recently he said, " I'm looking forward to the upcoming season. Local practice will be starting on March 3rd for all divisions. Following that we will have the USCS Winged Sprint cars on March 17th . That's a great series sponsored by O'Reilly Auto Parts, and it should be a great show,? also great that it just happens to fall on St. Patrick's day. We expect speed records to fall and see the sprint cars reach around 150 mph. We also have such exciting events lined up as the NVRA Vintage Race Series, Hooters Pro Cup, Allison Legacy Series, PASS Super Late model event, not to mention numerous GAS series events".

Peach States new owner stated, "I am excited to be involved with this historic track. This track has made a lot of history and a lot of famous drivers have raced here. I have a vision for some major improvements that will benefit both the fans and the racers. I'd like to make it the premier short track in all of Georgia".

Starting this season, steps have been made in that direction. Purses have increased greatly. The winners payout for the Super Trucks is now $1500. The Ice Man division now pays $800 to win, as does the Sportsman division. The Mini Stock division will pay out $500 to the winner. Also, this year there will be a guaranteed point fund purse in each division at the end of the season.

Cain went on to say, " Our goal here at the track is to try and have a place where everyone that shows up can race. We want to try and work with the racers to make a way so that it is a big cooperative effort, that way it is good for the owners, the management, the racers themselves and the fans. We want the fans to see a good race program every week when they come to the track and have them think of Peach State as "the" place to come for short track racing. We want to make everyone aware that if we achieve our goals, that we will be able to continue to increase the race division payouts and also the end of the year points funds. We think all this is achievable and look forward to this season as a kick off."

Make sure to check back to the Peach State web site for regular updates. We plan on having numerous updates every week, so check back often.
